Quick and Easy Homemade Bread by SneakySpoons

We made this bread over the weekend and it was delicious!  So quick!  I halved the recipe and served it with soup.  Then I ate it leftover for a snack with a small bowl of olive oil for dipping.

Quick and Easy Homemade Bread

makes 2 loaves
2 cups warm water
1 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp active dry yeast
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp olive oil
5 cups flour

  1. Dissolve sugar in 2 cups of warm water.
  2. Sprinkle yeast on top of sugar-water and let sit for 5 minutes, until yeast is foaming.
  3. Dump remaining ingredients (flour, salt and olive oil) in a mixer. Add the yeast water. Mix with a dough hook until everything is combined and sticky.
  4. Put dough into an oiled bowl. Cover and let rise for 20 minutes.
  5. Squash dough into: 2 large cast iron skillets for focaccia bread, 2 bread pans (oiled) for loaves, or a baking stone for 2 round loaves or for individual rolls.
  6. Let dough rise for 10 minutes.
  7. Consider adding toppings like:  cheese, herbs, olive oil, salt, onion, garlic
  8. Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes, until golden.
