The smell of homemade cookies in the oven…is there a better smell? Brown sugar, vanilla, butter. Love it.
Here is my absolute favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe.
The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies…Ever
1 stick of butter, softened
1/2 c of crisco, (butter flavored is the best)
3/4 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of chocolate chips (semi-sweet, milk or m&m)
Cream butter, crisco and sugars. Add egg and vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda and salt. Fold in chocolate chips. Drop by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet. Bake 350 for 8-10 minutes.
Freezing Dough: I prefer my cookies hot out of the oven, when they are still gooey and delicious. So…I usually make this recipe and freeze the extra dough. I scoop out the cookie dough into round balls and place them on a cookie sheet. Then I put them in the freezer for 30 minutes to an hour. I get a large freezer bag and place the chilled dough inside and back into the freezer. Next time we want cookies we just grab the dough out of the freezer and they are ready to go into the oven. I usually set the frozen dough on a cookie sheet while the oven is preheating, that way they are slightly thawed. Tadaa! Hot cookies whenever we want.
